• This barn has remained in the Hawley Family for four generations.
Present Owner & Present Status:
This barn, currently used for farm equipment storage, serves as the backdrop for New York Craft Malt – Upstate New York’s main malting operation run by Ted Hawley, a 4th generation farmer and his wife, Patty.
Interesting Details:
• The original barn, built in 1914, was destroyed by fire in 1921.
• The second barn, built in 1922, was also destroyed by fire in 1925.
• At 40 feet x 190 feet, this barn, the third version, built in 1926 is believed to be the largest Wells barn ever built.
